ECHOES OF ROMANIA

An Alianta Project

First Virtual Exhibition- April 2017

In celebration of Alianta’s 2015 Mediums exhibition at the OAS, the first online installment of RAMA, Alianta’s new arts initiative, features works by Mediums artists on the theme: “Echoes of Romania.”

In the spirit of Mediums, which offered a sampling of various mediums and techniques, the art of this virtual show ranges from works on paper to monumental sculpture and from photography to digital art.

The selected “echoes of Romania” are diverse thematically as well. Some works are either images of Romania, such as Cris Orfescu’s photographs of the Danube Delta, or creative collages of quotes from Romanian culture, such as Ionut Radulescu’s graphic design and illustrations for the Romanian magazine DOR (Decat O Revista). Other works engage with the theme indirectly, through visualizations of feelings related to Romania, including Patrick Mateescu’s monumental sculpture titled Column for My Homeland, Manuela Holban’s Crepuscular – a “portrait” of dusk in Romania, as experienced and recalled by the artist, and Max Tzinman’s digitally rendered images of land, inspired by childhood memories in Romania.

Participating Artists:  Manuela Holban, Patrick Mateescu, Cris Orfescu, Ionut Radulescu, Max Tzinman.

Curator:  Sonia Coman-Ernstoff
