Via Transilvanica documentary US Tour 2022

Via Transilvanica is one Romanian successful project that unites Romanians around the world and gives us hope for the future. It is the longest art exhibition in the world, with 1,400 hand-carved milestones along the way.  It thrives on sustainability, bringing the spotlight on the natural patrimony of Romania, uniting over 600 local communities, and creating authentic, mindful experiences along its way.

I met Alin Useriu from Via Transilvanica in 2019 while working with Romanian United Fund. I visited them last fall in Pasul Tihuta, Bistrita, and I wrote about the visit here. Since last November I am working closely with the team of Via Transilvanica to help promote them in the US, and to create long-term partnerships that would give this powerful, unique project in Eastern Europe the worldwide recognition it deserves.

Today is my pleasure to announce the exclusive US premiere of their documentary ”Via Transilvanica: The Road Ahead”

From the end of May to the beginning of June, Via Transilvanica presents in 9 major cities across the US a documentary by Mircea Gherase, “Via Transilvanica: The Road Ahead”. The film, subtitled in English, shows the intricate making-of-story of the Caras-Severin trail stretch, which also happens to be the longest section of the trail. The film caravan will be presented by the founder of the project, Alin Useriu.

Each screening of the documentary will also fundraise for the organization. Via Transilvanica works to carve 200 more milestones to finalize the trail. A kilometer of road costs $1,100 to create and maintain.  Our commitment is to raise money for at least 15 milestones from our community.

If you decide to sponsor a milestone ($1,100), you will be my personal hero, a “Romanian At Heart” Diploma receipient, and your name will be added in the VT phone app as a sponsor.

Support Via Transilvanica! Help us finalize this project and share the Romanian beauty with the world! Partners of our Fundraisers are the Romanian Embassy in the US and the Romanians of DC.
